Why Traveling In A Sprinter Van Rental Is Good for Your Health

We believe in the connective power of the open road. If you’re thinking about exploring the country with your loved ones, head to our blog for trip ideas. Greenvans offers passenger van rentals in and around our main offices in Providence, New York, Philadelphia and Richmond, all excellent places to start an unforgettable adventure with you and your loved ones. First things first: Greenvans rents 15 passenger Ford Transit Medium Roof vans. Confused about the difference between a Ford Transit and a Sprinter Van Rental? That’s ok! Read our article about the two styles of vans here.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that a Ford Transit Medium roof is very similar to a Mercedes Sprinter Van, and often people confuse the two because they look similar.

If the thought of sitting for hours in the cushiony seat of a Transit passenger van rental does not strike you as healthy, think again. Road trips are actually quite good for your general health, due to the change of scenery, emotional bonding and the sharpened skills required to drive a luxury passenger van rental effectively.

It is possible to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle while on the road. Being mindful of the snacks you tote along can make all the difference. Incorporating as much movement as you can, even while seated, will stave off stiffness. Planning driving breaks where there are walking or biking trails will counter long driving stretches in your passenger van rental.

To be honest, it’s easier than you might think. Here’s why.

  • Let’s start with food. It’s not difficult to plan healthy snacks that are simple to consume. A few examples of vitamin and mineral-rich munchies include:
  • Nuts: almonds, cashews, walnuts. Preferably raw or lightly roasted with salt. Be mindful of the ingredients, some companies sneak in unnecessary oils or sugars.
  • Fresh fruit: Buy fruits like grapes, figs, berries, oranges, apples, and bananas. They’re the easiest to travel with and eat while sitting comfortably together in your sprinter van rental. (Don’t forget a trash bag and paper towels.)
  • Fresh Veggies: These can be bought pre-cut to make your life easier. Carrots, celery and cherry tomatoes are a crunchy (and cleaner!) alternative to potato or corn chips.
  • Chips: Okay, celery doesn’t always balance a chip craving. So eat them! But not those in a bag. To keep it on the healthy side, take the time to make your own. Veggie chips are easy to make, as are homemade potato chips. Carrots, beets, turnips and potatoes can be sliced thin and then baked or dehydrated. Kale can be shredded, massaged with a high quality oil and baked until crisp. If you don’t want or have time to cook at all, look for roasted seaweed sheets instead.

  • Roasted chickpeas: While preparing your homemade chips, throw a batch of chickpeas in the oven as well. Buy them dry, soak them in water for a day, coat them in a high quality oil and seasoning of your choice and then roast until crispy. Salt, chili powder, curry, or za’atar will give this snack an extra kick.
  • Fresh avocados + lemon + salt: The easiest way to accomplish this is to bring the avocados whole, in a cooler. Cut them when you’re ready to eat them, sprinkle a little salt and squeeze a bit of lemon juice. Eat with a spoon.
  • Dates: For a sweet snack, dates are unbeatable. Other candy substitutes are dried apricots, raisins, coconut and pure cacao.
  • Stay as hydrated as possible to keep your digestion optimal. Juicy fruits and lots of water will require more stops but will be worth the minor convenience in the long run.
  • Don’t stop moving! Even in your seat, you can incorporate easy stretches to keep your blood flowing. Do some simple arm stretching, seated side bends, spinal twists and seated “figure fours” to free up your hips and lower back. When you do stop, reward your body with a forward fold, quad lengtheners and calf stretches.
  • Speaking of stops, map your breaks accordingly. While planning your road trip, check the route for national parks, boardwalks, walking paths and bike trails where you can walk, hike, bike or run. Since our large sprinter vans are so spacious, packing an extra set of sneakers is no big deal.
  • Set a daily step count. Each morning, give everyone the chance to decide what the step goal should be for that day. Track and compare before bed.

Sprinter Van Rental vs Transit Passenger Van Rental

Keep in mind that the only style van that we rent is the Ford Medium Roof Transit 15 Passenger Van. Check out our vans page here to see some photos. These vans look very similar to Sprinter vans, so people frequently call us and ask to rent a Sprinter van. Don’t worry, it’s a common misunderstanding. Just be aware that our vans look very similar to Sprinter vans, but they are Ford vans, not Mercedes vans.

Taking a road trip in a passenger van rental is not only the key to unforgettable memories, it’s also the glue that holds everyone together. The time you spend exploring on the open road promotes conversation and laughter, and the opportunity to simply be with one another.

Greenvans will be by your side every step of the way. We are here to answer any questions you have before, during and after your trip!

Check out our website to reserve your 15 passenger rental van from any of our main offices.

If you prefer to have the van dropped off at your house, we can easily make those arrangements. Just give us a call.
