Streamsong Red
Streamsong, FL

Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw—two of the top golf architects in the world—Streamsong Red’s 18 holes span decades-old sand dunes, rolling hills, natural bunkers, and expansive lakes to test your skill and please your eye.

Given the dramatic scenery, walking the course comes highly recommended (and required during certain times throughout the year). All three of the championship courses were designed to be walked—and provide natural contours that might even help you with your swing.

Each hole is unique, with its own flow and personality. And though golfers of all skill levels can play, scratch players are bound to find the strategically placed hazards a serious challenge.

The Cascades
Hot Springs, VA

The Cascades at the Omni Homestead Resort in Virginia is easily one of the best golf courses on the East Coast.

Set against the backdrop of Virginia’s stunning Allegheny Mountains and ranked among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses” by Golf Digest, the course offers nothing short of an unforgettable experience.

While the front nine offers some significant elevation challenges that include a severe drop down to the 4th green, the superior back nine offers one amazing hole after another, with bluegrass fairways and bentgrass greens that feel mature and soft compared to the firmer sand bases of newer courses.

This softness is ideal for a course of modest length—though the hole designs are so good you won’t notice the course length at all.

Friar’s Head
Baiting Hollow, NY

Another Coore and Crenshaw special, Friar’s Head overlooks Long Island Sound and features heavily wooded sand dunes that pose quite a hazard.

The meadows, farmlands and dunes make it feel like three courses in one. And with no yardage markings, a walking-only policy, no distances on the scorecard and no rakes for the bunker, Friar’s Head is a haven for hardcore, old-school golfers.

Greens vary in size from 3,000 to 18,000 square feet, and the signature par-four hole is 460 yards long—with a massive bunker that gathers in shots as the fairway slopes from right to left.

The challenges, the views, the tremendous design—the makings of a memorable golf experience are all here.

The only thing missing: You.

If you’re looking for a life-changing golf experience, look east. The coast is dotted with spectacular courses—and your biggest challenge may just be deciding which one to play.
